Survey: Moroccan Women Gaining Acceptance in Leadership Roles

More than half of Moroccans (65%) believe that women can hold positions of responsibility. This is the result of a survey conducted by the Arab Barometer.
In Morocco, the perception of women in society is changing. According to the conclusions of the Arab Barometer survey on women’s abilities in the private sphere, employment and public management as well as on society’s perception of the subject, 35% of respondents think that women do not have their place in politics and public affairs management, compared to 49% in 2018. Another notable advance: 46% of Moroccans surveyed in 2022 think that the man must decide and have the last word within the family, compared to 52% in 2018.
On the issue of the transmission of nationality by women, 57% of respondents believe that a Moroccan woman married to a foreigner has the full right to pass on her Moroccan nationality to her children. On the education side, one in four Moroccans still thinks that higher education is more important for men than for women, and 25% of Moroccans believe that going to university is of no interest to girls.
