Study Reveals: Jews Face Higher Rates of Religious Discrimination Than Muslims in France

The organizers of the November 10 demonstration claimed that many Muslims are subject to discrimination because of their religion. Conversely, Ifop studies, whose Politics/News department is headed by François Kraus, show that Jews are more exposed to attacks because of their religion than Muslims in France.
"42% of Muslims say they have been the subject of at least one form of discrimination related to their religion" while "other minorities are now more exposed than Muslims to attacks because of their religion," said François Kraus, director of the Politics/News department at Ifop.
To support his argument, he said the gap is more pronounced between Muslims and Jews when it comes to physical attacks. "7% of Muslims have suffered from it because of their religion, compared to 34% of Jews," he specified.
Making a comparison between the data from the Ifop study and those observed by Jews in 2015 as part of a survey for the Jean Jaurès Foundation, he stated that almost three times fewer Muslims (24%) than Jews (66%) have already been victims of a verbal attack related to their religion. As for Protestants and Evangelicals, 17% of them have already been victims of insults related to their faith.
Also, François Kraus observed that the "most widespread discrimination - that experienced during police checks - is far from the 50% threshold: 28% of those who have already been checked have been victims of it among Muslims, and barely 13% among the entire Muslim population. "In all cases, Jews remain in France those who suffer the most physical or verbal attacks because of their religion," summarizes the director of the Politics/News department at Ifop.
