Study Ranks Morocco’s Roads Among World’s Most Dangerous

Morocco is on the list of countries with the most dangerous roads, according to a recent study by the international road safety education consulting firm Zutobi.
Out of a total of 56 countries, Morocco ranks 30th in this ranking of countries with the most dangerous roads. The study was carried out taking into account several factors such as the percentage of drivers wearing seat belts or the number of deaths attributed to alcohol.
For the second consecutive year, Norway tops this ranking and remains the country where driving is the safest. The United States, Thailand and South Africa are the last three on the list, with 22.2 deaths due to road accidents per 100 inhabitants for South Africa and a high rate of road accidents due to excessive alcohol consumption for the other two countries, the study reveals.
France, Germany and Japan have the highest rate (98%) of road accidents due to not wearing seat belts. As for the estimated number of deaths due to road accidents in general, it has seen a slight decrease, from 11% in 2020 to 9.7%.
