Study: Moroccan Youth Trust Police Most Among Government Institutions

Moroccan youth have confidence in the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) (police). This is revealed by a study carried out by the Future Elite research firm for the Observatory of the North of Human Rights (ONDH).
With a rate of 69%, the DGSN is at the top of the list of institutions in which Moroccan youth have the most confidence. 27% of respondents gave negative answers and 4% neutral opinions. The Ministry of National Education ranks second (+51% against -45%) followed by the Health Department (+49% against -46%), the Interior (+41% against -54%), the Economy (+36% against -64%), and Habous and Islamic Affairs (+33% against -56%).
With 24% positive responses, 71% negative responses and 5% neutral opinions, the Prime Minister’s Office is at the bottom of the scale. The authors of the study also focused on the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region. Young people were asked to share their perception of the territorial administration and elected officials. It appears that civil society associations are at the top of the positive confidence index, with a rate of 75% against 22% of negative responses.
The prefectures occupy the second place (+42% against -50%) followed by the Pachaliks and the Caïdats (+39% against -55%), the headquarters of the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region (+21% against -52%), the prefectures and the provinces (+29% against -53%). Only 10% of young people trust the elected officials (6th place) with a negative confidence index of -85%.
The Future Elite research firm also looked at the degree of confidence that young people place in information sources. With a rate of +68% against -30% of negative responses, Moroccan electronic news sites rank first, followed by national television channels (+67% against -33%).
