Study: Facebook Emerges as Top News Source for Young Moroccans Amid Pandemic

Social networks have become the main source of information for young Moroccans, indicates a study whose results were revealed by the international consulting agency Marco, based in Madrid.
Like the inhabitants of other countries, the health crisis has strongly impacted the habits of Moroccans. In a survey report on this issue in Morocco, Marco reports that Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, have become "top-tier" sources of information for Moroccans. The survey was conducted during the months of May and June last year and involved 14,000 people in 14 countries.
According to the data published in the report, 75% of Moroccans said the pandemic has changed them. Thus, Facebook ranks first (53%) as a source of information in Morocco. It is followed by WhatsApp (51%) and Instagram (46%). More specifically, men are more likely to consult Facebook with 55%, while Instagram is the primary source for 62% of women, who also enjoy WhatsApp for 58% of them.
Regarding the age group, young people are mostly active on these platforms. Among 18-25 year olds, television only comes in 3rd place in terms of reliability behind WhatsApp (44%) and Instagram (40%). 75% of Moroccans aged 40 to 65 still prefer to get information through television.
