Strike by Baggage Handlers Disrupts Operations at Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport

The baggage handlers at Mohammed V Airport launched a 24-hour renewable strike on Tuesday, October 1, in an attempt to make themselves heard.
The Union of Ground Workers, affiliated with the UMT, issued a statement to announce the colors. Violations of trade union rights, lawsuits, abusive dismissals. These are, among other things, the reasons that justify this new strike by the baggage handlers at Mohammed V Airport.
According to Younes Rafii, Secretary General of the Union of Ground Workers, all the trades under the GPI company (subcontractor of ground services at Mohammed V Airport for RAM Handling) have been strongly mobilized. These include forklift operators, bus drivers and cleaning agents, among others.
On the RAM Handling side, arrangements have been made to ensure the continuity of the "Baggage Handling" service. To this end, 200 volunteer employees of Royal Air Maroc, of all grades, have been mobilized and trained to replace the baggage handlers.
