Stranded Moroccans Protest at Istanbul Consulate, Demand Repatriation

Moroccans stranded in Turkey are demanding their immediate repatriation. To express their discontent, they have been camping for 10 days, near the Moroccan Consulate General in Istanbul.
The protesters were ordered by the Turkish police to leave the premises. But the latter turned a deaf ear, demanding their repatriation, indicates Hespress.
Making them believe that they would transfer them to hotels provided for them by the consular services, the Turkish law enforcement authorities placed the Moroccan protesters in detention and kept their papers.
According to one of them, Amine, the consulate had initiated a repatriation operation that did not take into account all the Moroccans stranded in Istanbul. Those left behind "found themselves sleeping outside," he added.
Faced with the situation, the Moroccans stranded in Turkey are calling on the Moroccan government to proceed with their repatriation as soon as possible.
It should be noted that the closure of the Moroccan borders and the suspension of flights have led thousands of Moroccans to remain stranded abroad.
