Stranded Moroccan Truckers Plea for Help at Blocked Guerguerat Border Crossing

200 truck drivers, direct victims of the closure of the Guerguerat crossing, have issued a distress call to the United Nations and the authorities of Morocco and Mauritania. The Moroccans have been blocked in Mauritania for more than three weeks.
Saying they have been abandoned to their fate, without food or water, the drivers are calling on the authorities of the two countries to intervene urgently, in order to allow them to return to their families, according to the daily Al Massae.
The Guerguerat buffer zone has been the scene, since October 21, of provocations by the Polisario. Using tires and stones, they have paralyzed civilian and commercial traffic.
In his speech on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the Green March, King Mohammed VI affirmed that "Morocco will remain firm on its positions and will not be swayed by the sterile provocations and desperate maneuvers of the other parties".
