Stranded Algerian Students Finally Return Home from Morocco on Special Flight

The Algerian students stranded at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca for a few days were able to reach Algeria yesterday, Monday.
Air Algérie operated an exceptional flight as part of the return of the 14 Algerian students stranded in Morocco. In addition to the students, other Algerians awaiting repatriation were on board the flight. In total, 72 passengers. The Algerian ambassador and consul in Rabat ensured the smooth running of the operation. Another flight is expected on Thursday to ensure the return of other Algerians still stranded in Morocco.
On January 11, 14 Algerian students found themselves stranded at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca after being turned away from Canada and brought back via the airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM). Without accommodation, food or even a change of clothes, they were squatting on the benches of terminal 3 of the airport. Faced with the situation, they had launched a distress call to the Algerian authorities. RAM, which was willing to ensure their return to Algeria, did not have the exceptional authorization from these authorities.
Finally, the Algerian embassy in Morocco announced, on Saturday, January 16, two Air Algérie repatriation flights departing from Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca. The students have now returned home.
