Stowaway Disrupts Tanger-Med Port Traffic After Jumping Overboard

Maritime traffic at the Tanger-Med port was disrupted on Wednesday, January 1, by the arrival of a stowaway who was denied entry into the kingdom by the port authorities.
According to the Spanish website Estrecho digital, the individual, whose papers were not up to date, protested against the authorities’ decision by jumping into the sea, causing a delay in the boats.
Coming from Algeciras, the man, whose age and nationality were not revealed, was apprehended by the security services before being forcibly boarded on another ferry bound for Spain.
The port of Tanger-Med experiences a lot of disruptions in maritime traffic, due to weather conditions, with swells reaching up to 5.5 meters in height.
