Sparta Rotterdam Captain Suspended 3 Matches for On-Field Altercation

Sparta captain Adil Auassar will not participate in the matches against Excelsior, Vitesse and FC Emmen. The Moroccan-Dutch player received a three-match suspension after hitting a defender from FC Utrecht during a home game.
Adil Auassar was sent off the field after hitting defender Sean Klaiber in the 46th minute of play. The player of Moroccan origin cannot explain his behavior. "It’s very hard to describe. It happened in a split second. I didn’t realize what I had done. There’s nothing positive to say about it. My intentions aren’t relevant either. It looks very bad on camera and it shouldn’t have happened to me. We were doing well in the game and I’ve hurt my team with this. I absolutely regret it," he said in an interview with ESPN.
And he adds: "I was doing well in the game myself. Then this happened with Klaiber, whom I hadn’t even seen throughout the match. He was on the other side of the field. Sometimes things happen in a split second without you thinking about it. Afterwards, you think: that’s not smart, in fact it’s very stupid."
