Spanish Woman Recovers Stolen iPhone in Morocco After Madrid Theft

Thursday 30 January 2025, by Prince

A Spanish woman named Cristina Díaz had her mobile phone stolen on December 15 during a night out in a nightclub in Madrid. She was able to recover the device in Morocco thanks to the intervention of the Moroccan police, whom she did not fail to thank for their "incredible" help.

After noticing the loss of her phone, an iPhone 15 Pro Max worth more than a thousand euros, the young woman tried to locate the device using the Apple function. Without success. "I spoke to the police and they told me they couldn’t do anything because the mobile phone is in an apartment and they can’t get a search warrant," she explained to El Correo.

On January 6, 2025, Cristina receives a new location signal from her mobile phone, indicating that the device is in Morocco. "I waited several days in case they turned it on in the same place, and that’s what they did," she details. On January 15, the young Spanish woman boards a flight to Morocco with a Moroccan friend. Once in the kingdom, she rents a car and heads to Casablanca and Tangier, the area where the phone was last located.

But the thieves have turned off the device again, making it impossible to locate. Cristina does not give up. She goes to a police station, presents the complaint filed in Spain, the IMEI code of the device and asks for the help of the Moroccan police. "The police were incredible," she recounts, explaining that "in less than an hour" they had obtained an Interpol search warrant, issued by a Moroccan judge.

Accompanied by about thirty Moroccan police officers, she went to the house where the phone was last located. The owner of the house denied having the device. The search carried out did not allow Cristina’s iPhone to be found. Questioned, the man finally indicated where he had hidden the device. "Less than three hours after arriving at the police station, I had my phone," exclaims the Spaniard, who lavished praise on the Moroccan police.
