Spanish-Swiss Suspect Denies Involvement in Morocco Tourist Murders

During an interrogation on Monday in Salé before the anti-terrorism investigating judge, Kevin Zoller, the 25-year-old Spanish-Swiss arrested in connection with the murder of two Scandinavian tourists for terrorist purposes, declared his innocence.
According to Saad Sahli, the Genevese’s lawyer, quoted by AFP, his client "affirmed his innocence before the investigating judge, who was attentive and had a positive attitude." The lawyer, confident, says "waiting for there to be a confrontation with the other accused before requesting release." He also considers the hearing "detailed and positive."
Kevin Zoller is accused of "forming a gang to undermine public order," of "premeditated assistance to perpetrators of terrorist acts," and of "training people to commit terrorist acts." He is one of the twenty or so people arrested for alleged direct or indirect links related to the double murder of two Scandinavian students, Louisa Vesterager Jespersen, a 24-year-old Dane, and Maren Ueland, a 28-year-old Norwegian, beheaded in the night of December 16 to 17 while on vacation in the Kingdom.
This same Monday, other suspects in this case were questioned by the same anti-terrorism investigating judge and a new closed-door hearing is scheduled for the near future, with the date still to be determined.
Kevin Zoller had settled in Morocco in 2015. He was arrested in Marrakech at the end of December. According to Fedpol: "The individual is known to the Geneva police for common law offenses committed between 2007 and 2013."
Last January, Zoller’s mother, answering questions from the Spanish newspaper El Mundo, had also proclaimed her son’s innocence in this case.
