Spanish Runner Mohamed Katir Shatters Indoor 1,500m National Record in France

Mohamed Katir has once again broken all records at the national level. On Tuesday, in Liévin, France, he clocked 3:36.89 in the 1,500m indoor event. With this new record, he becomes the best Spanish athlete in this category, ahead of famous sportsmen like Abascal, Olmedo, Casado or Viciosa.

Last week in Karlsruhe (Germany), he had already achieved a performance in the 3,000m with a time of 7:35.29, the third best time in the history of Spanish athletics in this distance, after Sergio Sánchez (7:32.41) and Alberto García (7:32.98), both suspended for doping.

Arrived in Mula at the age of 5 from Huesca, Mohamed Katir considers himself "a Spaniard to the fullest". He started out in football before turning to athletics.
