Spanish Runner Mohamed Katir Shatters Indoor 1,500m National Record in France

The athlete Mohamed Katir, of Moroccan origin and Spanish by adoption, achieved on Tuesday in Liévin, France, the best national record of all time on the 1,500m indoor track with a time of 3:36.89.
Mohamed Katir has once again broken all records at the national level. On Tuesday, in Liévin, France, he clocked 3:36.89 in the 1,500m indoor event. With this new record, he becomes the best Spanish athlete in this category, ahead of famous sportsmen like Abascal, Olmedo, Casado or Viciosa.
Last week in Karlsruhe (Germany), he had already achieved a performance in the 3,000m with a time of 7:35.29, the third best time in the history of Spanish athletics in this distance, after Sergio Sánchez (7:32.41) and Alberto García (7:32.98), both suspended for doping.
Arrived in Mula at the age of 5 from Huesca, Mohamed Katir considers himself "a Spaniard to the fullest". He started out in football before turning to athletics. This season, he has caused a sensation in the world of Spanish athletics. He is nominated for the title of best European athlete of the month of January and has a good chance of winning a medal at the European Championships to be held in March in Torun, Poland.
