Spanish Runner Ilias Fifa Returns to Competition After 4-Year Doping Ban

The doping scandal did not manage to curb the ambitions of the Spanish athlete Ilias Fifa Temsamani. After serving a four-year suspension for possession of doping products, the runner of Moroccan origin will be back for the next European Cup of 10,000 meters.
Despite a pending trial for the same case, the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA - Spanish acronym) has called on Fifa to represent the national colors in this competition scheduled for June 3 in Pacé (Ille-et-Vilaine), France.
The 33-year-old athlete, born in Tangier, will be accompanied by Carlos Mayo, who is aiming for a third consecutive podium finish after finishing third in 2021 and second in 2022. The presence of Roberto Alaiz, Lahcen Ait Alibou (of Moroccan origin), Juan Antonio "Chiki" Pérez and Yago Rojo completes the men’s team.
On the women’s side, Isabel Barreiro, Paula Herrero, Laura Luengo, Maitane Melero, Ester Navarrete and Cristina Ruiz will also defend the colors of Spain.
