Spanish Police Bust Moroccan Gang Accused of Highway Kidnappings and Ransom Plots

Four Moroccans were arrested this week for their alleged involvement in a criminal network specializing in kidnapping, the sequestration of highway users in Spain.
The 4 individuals, aged 25 to 35, were apprehended during an ambush set up by Guardia civil agents in Alicante. Several cars and mobile phones were seized during the searches carried out at the suspects’ homes.
The latest operation dates back to the beginning of November, when two men were kidnapped in Alicante and held hostage in Fuengirola, in the south of the country. A ransom of 150,000 euros was demanded by the attackers, who had kidnapped the 2 victims on the A7 motorway, connecting Alicante and Murcia.
To reach the members of this criminal network, the Guardia civil agents set a trap with the complicity of the victims’ relatives. The operation was a success and the police managed to neutralize the 4 Moroccans.
