Spanish Pedophile's 8-Year Sentence Upheld in Morocco Child Abuse Case

The Court of Cassation has confirmed the eight-year prison sentence imposed in 2020 on the Spanish national Félix Ramos for rape and abuse of minors. The NGO Touche pas à mon enfant welcomes a fair decision that honors the judicial system.

The Félix Ramos case had started with a complaint for fraud filed by a Moroccan resident abroad (MRE) and a 19-year-old youth. The latter also accuses him of having raped him when he was 14 years old in a shelter in Tangier. Félix Ramos will be arrested upon his return from Spain and investigators realize that the case involves several other Spaniards, including the founder and president of the association Ningún Niño sin Techo de Tanger, María Rodríguez Almendros, recalls Hespress.

The case led to the dissolution of the association in July 2020. That same year, the main accused was sentenced to 8 years in prison with a fine of 60,000 dirhams for the benefit of the victims. His sentence was reduced to 3 years on appeal before the Court of Appeal of Tétouan in December last on the grounds that he would have "health problems requiring medical treatment".

The association for the defense of victims of rape of minors decided to intervene so that the initial sentence, already insufficient in its eyes, be maintained. "Thanks to the mobilization of our members and that of the Moroccan Association of Human Rights (AMDH), the case was referred to the Court of Cassation and the conviction to eight years in prison and the compensation to the victims of sixty thousand dirhams were confirmed," rejoices the president Najat Anwar. She emphasizes that "this judicial decision will serve as an example to deter anyone who would be tempted to commit reprehensible acts against our children".
