Spanish King Felipe VI Invited to Ceuta’s Autonomy Day Celebration

The King of Spain, Felipe VI, will be invited "to participate in the events marking the celebration of the Day of Autonomy of Ceuta on September 2 next". This is what the City Assembly has decided.
The deputies of the PP, the PSOE, the MDyC and Caballas voted for this resolution to officially invite King Felipe VI to these festivities for which a program of activities has been concocted and which will be marked by "the active participation of all civil society", reports Europa Press.
The proposal was made by the deputy Mohamed Ali (Caballas) who believes that "the time has come for the king, who has visited all the Autonomous Communities except Ceuta and Melilla during his tour during the health crisis, to respect his commitment by making this trip which would be important for the city and for all the inhabitants of Ceuta".

The spokespersons of the PP, Carlos Rontomé, of the PSOE, Manuel Hernandez and of the MDyC, Fatima Hamed, supported the proposal and agreed on the opportunity for the monarch to visit Ceuta for the first time since he took power, recalling that his father visited the city only once in November 2017.
Vox voted against this proposal which it considers as "a trick of Caballas to camouflage its pro-Moroccan interests". "The king will not come so as not to irritate Mohammed VI, as Pedro Sanchez has shown by ejecting his Minister of Foreign Affairs," added Carlos Viadejo, the spokesman for the far-right party.
