Spanish Intelligence: Morocco’s Migrant Surge in Ceuta a ’Show of Force’

The Spanish intelligence services (CNI) continue their investigation into the arrival of nearly 10,000 Moroccans in Ceuta. The emergency admission of Brahim Ghali to a hospital in Logroño under a false identity on April 18 remains a source of tension between Morocco and Spain.
Okdiario returns to the tensions between Spain and Morocco. According to the Spanish website, the Spanish intelligence services are still investigating the massive influx of migrants into Ceuta and fear that a similar situation could recur. "What happened in Ceuta is more considered as a show of force on the part of Morocco than as a retaliation for the reception of the Polisario chief," comments Okdiario.
"If the assault on the fence of Ceuta has been described as a calculated gesture resulting from the strategy of the Kingdom of Morocco, the events that immediately followed in Melilla have been more interpreted as an act of imitation," it analyzes.
In Ceuta, everything was prepared days, even weeks in advance, explains the author of the article citing his sources within the intelligence service. While Rabat had expressed its anger and warned Spain following the emergency admission of the Polisario leader to a hospital in Logroño, under the assumed name of Mohamed Ben Battouche, an Algerian national, on April 18, Madrid seems to have turned a deaf ear and is paying the price. Furthermore, the Spanish authorities "refuse to admit that the reception of Brahim Ghali was an imprudent diplomatic blunder," notes Okdiario.
