Spain Secures Gas Supply Amid Morocco-Algeria Diplomatic Crisis

The Spanish Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares, assured on Monday that his country’s gas supply "is guaranteed" despite the breakdown of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Algeria.
Algeria remains Spain’s main supplier of natural gas. It was transported via the Maghreb-Europe gas pipeline that passes through Morocco. But after announcing the rupture of relations with Morocco, the Algerian government indicated that the supply will now be made via the Medgaz pipeline that connects Algeria to the Spanish city of Almeria.

"Spain’s gas supply is not in danger, because our Moroccan and Algerian friends want to work together in this area," said Minister Albares during his appearance before the Foreign Affairs Committee of Congress, saying he had exchanged with "Algerian and Moroccan friends" in recent days.
"There is no need to worry" about this issue in Spain, insisted the minister, who says the government remains concerned about the crisis between Morocco and Algeria.
