Spain Praises Morocco’s Cooperation on Illegal Immigration Control

Following the reaction of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, the day after the assault of migrants in Melilla, the Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares, also praised the bilateral cooperation on illegal immigration.
Speaking on a local television channel, Albares stated that "without the collaboration of the Moroccan security forces and the excellent work of the Spanish security forces, it would be impossible to control the phenomenon of illegal migration."
According to him, "no country in the world, no matter how powerful, can face this phenomenon alone," emphasizing the "complexity" of managing this scourge and facing the assaults of people who "are looking for a better life, risking their lives."
"What we have to do is improve and further strengthen our cooperation with Morocco and with the countries of origin and transit. Europe and the European Commission must be involved," he continued.
"Cooperation between Europe and the countries of origin and transit must be strengthened, and technological means must be provided to prevent such attacks from happening again," he argued.
