Spain Passports 2025: Moroccans Dominate Naturalization Records
Spain granted its nationality to nearly 300,000 foreigners in 2025, an unprecedented volume in twelve years. In this historic administrative wave, Moroccan nationals establish themselves as the primary beneficiaries of these procedures.
Data shared this Thursday by El Instituto Nacional de Estadística - INE show a progression of 18.7% year-over-year. The country validated exactly 299,732 applications, establishing the absolute peak of the statistical series that began in 2013. Citizens originating from Morocco occupy the top of this ranking with 42,114 passports obtained, surpassing Colombian and Venezuelan contingents. Examination of profiles reveals that women constitute the majority of new Spanish citizens (55.4%). Furthermore, the age group encompassing thirty-year-olds proves the most substantial, slightly ahead of people aged 40 to 49.
