Spain-Morocco Relations Normalized, Spanish Foreign Minister Declares

The diplomatic tension between Morocco and Spain would be over, according to the Spanish Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares.
Speaking on Thursday during the debates on the subject in the Senate, the minister was reassuring, categorically stating that "there is no crisis with Morocco", reports the EFE agency.
According to him, Spain is now working to build "a 21st century relationship" with Morocco. "I am happy that there is no crisis with Morocco at the moment, but I am not satisfied. I want a 21st century relationship," he explained.
With Morocco, the ambition of the Spanish diplomatic chief is "to have the best possible neighborly relationship". Morocco, for the Spanish official, is a "strategic partner" with countless common interests, despite relations of "great complexity".
"We all want to move towards an ideal neighborly relationship, and Morocco wants it too," Albares explained, who revealed that he was in regular telephone contact with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita.
And he added that the objective is to "build a new relationship", even if this, he admitted, "will take time, which is neither media time nor the time of this commission".
