Spain to Build $23 Million School in Rabat, Boosting Educational Ties with Morocco

The Hassan district of Rabat will soon welcome a new Spanish educational institution. This college, whose construction is scheduled for 2026, will be located on Rue Khénifra and can accommodate up to 1,000 students. Spread over an area of 20,000 m², it will provide all non-university education cycles.
This project, with an initial cost of 17.3 million euros in 2021, has seen its budget revised upwards. Spain will ultimately invest 21.6 million euros in its construction.
For Madrid, it is a matter of strengthening educational cooperation between the two countries and increasing the cultural and linguistic influence of Spain in Morocco. This new establishment will replace the current Colegio Español de Rabat, which operates under the supervision of the Spanish Ministry of Education and enrolls 764 students.
The finalization of the project has become a priority for the Spanish government. Indeed, Madrid must imperatively respect the deadlines set with the Moroccan authorities, in particular the two-year deadline to start construction, at the risk of losing the land granted by King Mohammed VI.
