Soukaina Benjelloun Freed After 3 Months in Prison in Morocco
The Moroccan influencer Soukaina Benjelloun regained her freedom on Sunday after three months in detention in Casablanca. Sentenced following a highly publicized dispute with her ex-husband, she leaves Okacha Prison marked by an experience she describes as “bitter.”
Her release, which took place on the fourth day of Ramadan, was marked by unusual solitude. No family member or person from her circle was present outside the prison walls to welcome her, a situation that sparked numerous expressions of compassion on social media.

In her first statements, Soukaina Benjelloun described this period as a challenging chapter in her life and an opportunity for self-reflection. Clearly expressing regret over the actions that led to her downfall, she said she wanted to close this chapter in order to “open a new page” and regain a stable life.
The case, dubbed by the media as “Morocco’s most expensive divorce,” led to her conviction last December. The dispute involved defamation allegations after the influencer shared details of her separation and the ruling awarding her compensation of 720 000 dirhams on digital platforms.
