Skull Found in Tangier Trash Can Near Art Teacher's Home, Police Investigate

In Tangier, human remains including a skull were found in a trash can near the home of an art teacher. The police are investigating whether it is a homicide or a desecration of a grave.

Alerted by people who discovered these human remains in a trash can in a alley near the home of a well-known art teacher known for his eccentric tendencies, including his obsession with the human skeleton, the elements of the judicial police immediately went to the site. They were assisted by the various concerned services of the DGSN, including members of the scientific and technical police. They identified the human origin of the remains found. Technicians from the technical laboratory in turn viewed the recordings from the cameras installed in the vicinity, which allowed them to identify the person who threw these human remains in the trash can.

They saw the art teacher appear on the images throwing these remains in the trash can. On Thursday, the judicial police questioned him. The preliminary investigation reveals that the bones are very old and that the accused has kept them at his home for 15 years, reports the daily Al Akhbar. The teacher, who would be mentally ill, would have taken possession of these remains during his participation in a campaign to maintain and weed cemeteries in the city center, that of Sidi Bouabid and that of Sidi Bouarrakiya. This makes it possible to rule out the hypothesis of a homicide. However, the teacher risks legal proceedings, in particular for desecration of a grave, an offense punishable by law.
