Singer Vitaa Urges Support for Morocco Earthquake Victims on French TV

Invited to the "Quotidien" show on TMC to promote her new album "Charlotte" which will be released on October 6, Vitaa, married to a Moroccan, took the opportunity to launch an appeal for solidarity after the deadly earthquake that hit Morocco a week ago.
Since Friday, September 8, calls for solidarity with Morocco have multiplied. After the comedians Gad Elmaleh, Jamel Debbouze, Booder, or the rappers like Gims and Maes, Vitaa, also very close to Morocco, wanted to express her closeness to the kingdom. "My husband is of Moroccan origin. I have my in-laws there. My parents are based in Marrakech. I myself am in the process of building a house in Marrakech. I have a lot of friends there," the singer confided on the set of "Quotidien" on TMC.
Vitaa said she was "as moved as everyone else" after the announcement of the tragedy. "I had my friends on the phone who told me about the tragedy in the middle of the night with children, running out of a house... I don’t think you can imagine it without having lived it... I pray for them and they are in my heart," she said emotionally, before launching an appeal for solidarity. "I have friends on the spot who have set up a huge sorting, collection, food and basic necessities center. [...] They have set up a system of trucks that go to the most remote villages," she detailed.
The mother of three children has invited the good people present in Morocco to express their solidarity with the victims by making a donation in kind to this center. "People come, bring a lot of things, they need everything, everything that is possible. It’s great to give, but the people who are on the spot, go and drop off everything you can drop off, it goes faster. Blankets, clothes, hygiene products," added the interpreter of "I don’t forget" who asks that the wave of solidarity does not stop. "Their fear is that people will stop giving because life is resuming its course. [...] There are still plenty of people who have not yet been rescued."
The earthquake that struck Friday, September 8 the province of Al Haouz, in the Marrakech region, has already killed nearly 3,000 people and at least 5,530 injured. Entire villages have been destroyed. Rescue workers are working on the ground to assist the victims and search for bodies still trapped under the rubble. For its part, the government has put in place an emergency plan for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the affected areas. Compensation will be paid to victims who have lost their homes.
