Singer Alizée Impersonators Scam Vulnerable Fan Out of €15,000

Scammers were posing as French singer Alizée and managed to extort up to 15,000 euros from her. Part of this sum of money was sent to IBAN accounts in Lithuania and Morocco. The personality of Lilian, a resident of the Doubs, and his presence on the pages dedicated to the singer Alizée Jacotey favored the scam. "Our brother is vulnerable. He has a form of intelligence, but he is very naive and doesn’t go out much. He is a sensitive and discreet soul, with little developed sentimental life," confides his sister to the regional newspaper L’Est républicain. "Someone pretended to be the real Alizée by creating a fake account and contacted him. They continued the discussion via WhatsApp. From there, a virtual love was created between my brother and this Alizée, who ended up making him believe that she needed money," she recounts.

According to her account, there were prepaid cards, bought in tobacco shops. "A few hundred euros each time. He also sent money to IBAN accounts in Lithuania and Morocco. My brother was so well manipulated that they explained to him how to open online bank accounts, like Boursorama, to make transfers," she continues. The scammers extorted some 15,000 euros from him.
