Sierra Leone Reaffirms Support for Morocco’s Sahara Autonomy Plan

On a working visit to Morocco, Nabeela Tunis, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sierra Leone, reaffirmed, on Monday, August 19, 2019, in Rabat, her country’s "permanent support" for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom and the autonomy initiative.

Through the joint communiqué concerning the working visit of the Sierra Leonean Foreign Minister, Nabeela Tunis, she reiterated Sierra Leone’s "permanent support" for Morocco’s territorial integrity.

She also praised "the efforts made by Morocco, through the autonomy plan, to reach a political and peaceful solution to the Sahara issue".

During the tête-à-tête between Nabeela Tunis and her Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, the former expressed the "strong support" of her country for the role of the United Nations as the "exclusive framework" of the process leading to a definitive settlement of the conflict over the Sahara, details the joint communiqué.
