Shark Attack off Canary Islands: German Tourist Critically Injured at Sea

The Spanish rescue services called their Moroccan counterparts to come to the aid of a German tourist who had just been bitten in the leg by a shark off the Canary Islands.
This will be her last sailing at sea. On Monday, while sailing on board the British catamaran "Dalliance Chichester", a 17-meter pleasure boat that left the port of Las Palmas on Saturday, September 14 according to the specialized website vesselfinder.com, a German tourist was attacked by a shark 500 kilometers off the Spanish Canary Islands archipelago and 278 miles southwest of the island of Gran Canaria. A medical evacuation was necessary after this shark attack. Alerted at 2:55 p.m. (local time), the Spanish rescue services called the Moroccan rescue services, before deciding to send a helicopter and a Spanish army plane to help the crew of the catamaran.
The 30-year-old woman did not survive this attack. According to the rescue services, she was on board the helicopter around 8 p.m. (local time). While she was being evacuated to the Las Palmas hospital, the capital of Gran Canaria, the victim died of cardiac arrest.
