New Sexual Abuse Allegations Emerge Against Abbé Pierre, Including Incidents in Morocco

The so-called Abbé Pierre affair is not over. Seventeen new testimonies add to the accusations of sexual violence already weighing on him, some of which would have taken place in Morocco.
These accusations, made by women who have been in contact with Abbé Pierre in various capacities - volunteers, employees, relatives - cover a period from the 1950s to the 2000s. The reported facts are of extreme gravity: repeated sexual assaults, touching, or even acts that can be qualified as rape. Some testimonies even mention acts committed on minors.
In the case of Morocco, the facts would have taken place in 1956, where one of the victims claims to have been forced to "masturbate" Abbé Pierre in Rabat.
I. was forced to masturbate Abbé Pierre in Rabat (Morocco) in 1956:
I.’s sister and son contacted the listening device. Deceased today, I. was forced to masturbate Abbé Pierre during a trip to Morocco in 1956. She was 18 years old at the time of the events. Abbé Pierre was 44 years old.
Faced with the scale of the scandal, the Emmaüs movement and the Abbé-Pierre Foundation have decided to take radical measures. The Abbé-Pierre Foundation will change its name, while Emmaüs plans to remove the "founder Abbé Pierre" mention from its logo. The memorial site dedicated to the priest in Esteville will also be closed.
These revelations raise questions about how the institutions could have ignored or minimized these acts. The Egaé report suggests that some people may have been informed, but no concrete action was taken.
