Seven Suspects, Including Swiss-Spanish National, Charged in Moroccan Tourist Murders

Seven new suspects, including a Swiss national also holding Spanish nationality, were presented this Thursday to the Attorney General of the King near the Court of Appeal of Rabat, as part of the investigation into the murder of two Scandinavian women.
"The seven new suspects were brought before the investigating judge in accordance with an additional request to question them about terrorist acts, including the constitution of a gang to prepare and commit terrorist acts, premeditated assistance to perpetrators of terrorist acts and the training of people with a view to joining a terrorist organization," the King’s Prosecutor’s statement relayed by the Map reads.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office also asked the investigating judge to order the preventive detention of these persons, it is further specified.
Last Sunday, 15 people had been presented to the judge in this case, bringing the total number of defendants in the murder of two tourists, the Dane Louisa Vesterager Jespersen, 24, and the Norwegian Maren Ueland, 28, who had been killed on December 17 near Imlil, an area known for mountain tourism.
