Second Arrest Made in Brutal Anderlecht Narco-Assassination Case

The police have managed to arrest a second suspect in the "narco-assassination" of Nordine, a 49-year-old father shot dead at the foot of his building in Anderlecht on June 5th.

The investigation into Nordine’s murder is progressing. After the arrest of a first suspect - an individual barely in his twenties - last Wednesday in a hotel in Rotterdam by the Dutch Special Intervention Unit, based on a European arrest warrant issued by Belgium, the law enforcement authorities have succeeded in apprehending a second suspect. "We confirm that a second suspect has been arrested. The public prosecutor’s office will not make any further comments," said Maryam Benayad, spokeswoman for the Brussels public prosecutor’s office, to La Dernière Heure.

The events had taken place shortly after 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2025. Gunshots had rung out on the Boulevard Sylvain Dupuis in Anderlecht. As he was returning home after dropping off his two children at school, Nordine, a 49-year-old man, was shot dead in front of his home in Anderlecht. Hit in the chest, he was taken care of by the emergency services. But he did not survive. The nearly fifty-year-old succumbed to his injuries. Six cartridge cases had been found on the spot approximately at the level of the entrance to the Westland Shopping parking lot, but on the opposite sidewalk, it is specified.

An investigation had been opened. "The public prosecutor’s office was immediately informed of the facts and went to the scene, accompanied by the laboratory of the federal police. A forensic doctor and a ballistics expert were also called in. The Brussels public prosecutor’s office has seized an investigating judge on a charge of murder. The investigation has been entrusted to the federal judicial police. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of the events and to identify the perpetrator(s). In the interest of the investigation, and out of respect for the victim’s entourage, the Brussels public prosecutor’s office will not make any further comments," the Brussels public prosecutor’s office had stated.

For the time being, the investigators have been able to apprehend two suspects in the shooting in Anderlecht that cost this "ordinary" man his life.
