Schengen visas refused to Moroccan imams?
Some countries have refused to grant visas to Moroccan religious missions for the upcoming month of Ramadan, said the Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, during an oral question session at the House of Representatives. The countries were not mentioned by the ministry.
In response to this situation, the ministry says it is preparing a religious media program on the Internet specifically for Moroccans living abroad, particularly during the sacred month.
Last year, the Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans Living Abroad had mobilized 272 preachers and imams, mainly in Europe. This system, which involved 13 countries, is intended to support the faithful throughout the month of Ramadan.
The team sent to the field is distinguished by strong academic and religious expertise, with 38 university professors and 83 holders of a doctorate or master’s degree among its members. These speakers were tasked with animating the spiritual life of local communities through sermons, Quranic memorization workshops, and cultural activities. About thirty imams had taken the lead in the Tarawih prayers in the various partner mosques.
