Saudi National Dies After Altercation with Hotel Security in Casablanca, Embassy Responds
Saudi Arabia has reacted to the murder of one of its nationals who succumbed to his injuries sustained during an altercation with security agents at a hotel establishment in Casablanca.
"Concerned about the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its citizens abroad, the embassy wishes to clarify that it has followed the details of the tragic incident since its appearance with the competent Moroccan authorities, and it has therefore been found that the deceased had been killed by a group of security agents working in the hotel in which he was staying," the Saudi embassy said, adding that the investigation opened in this case is ongoing.
In total, seven individuals were arrested: three were taken into custody, while the other four were made available for the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, in order to determine their responsibility and involvement in the case. The embassy says it has full confidence in the Moroccan justice system. Pending the outcome of the investigation, it is discussing with the competent Moroccan authorities to repatriate the body of the deceased to Saudi Arabia.
