Saudi Embassy Warns Citizens as Wildfires Spread in Northern Morocco

The Saudi Arabian Embassy in Rabat is calling on Saudi citizens to be vigilant due to the wildfires ravaging wooded regions in northern Morocco hit by a heatwave.

The Saudi Arabian embassy in Rabat is calling on all citizens residing in Morocco to be cautious and ensure their safety, following the outbreak of fires in many forests in the northern provinces of the kingdom such as Taza, Larache, Ouazzane, Chefchaouen, Tetouan and other cities, reports Saudi Gazette. It also invites them to follow the instructions of the local authorities, and to contact it through various communication channels (telephone or email). The Saudi embassies in Madrid and Lisbon have sent the same security alert message to Saudi nationals residing in Spain and Portugal.

For the past few days, fires have been ravaging several wooded provinces, causing one death. Hundreds of families had to be evacuated. According to a provisional assessment by the local authorities, at least 1,600 hectares have been destroyed in the provinces of Larache, Ouezzane, Tetouan, and Taza. Morocco is under a severe heatwave (up to 48 degrees last week).
