Saudi-Australian Dissident Faces Extradition from Morocco to Saudi Arabia

At Riyadh’s request, Usama Al-Hasani, a man holding dual Australian and Saudi nationality, was arrested in Morocco for his alleged involvement in organizing "a public opposition activity" against the Wahhabi power. He risks being extradited to Saudi Arabia.
The arrest of Usama Al-Hasani, described as "an eminent personality, merchant, Quranic scholar and former professor at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah," follows a correspondence dated February 11, 2021 addressed to the public prosecutor in Morocco, according to the information platform Prisoners of conscience. He "recently traveled to Great Britain" with his Australian passport. According to high-ranking officials from his country of origin, he would have participated in the organization of "a public opposition activity" against the Wahhabi power.
"We confirm that the Moroccan authorities will bring Usama Al-Husaini to justice on March 3, and he will most likely be deported to Saudi Arabia, where the real danger lies, as he will either be killed or imprisoned for several years," the platform reported on Twitter. Upon his arrival in Morocco, Dr. Usama, who was registered at the border with his Australian passport, was arrested and incarcerated. Efforts by the Australian embassy to secure his release have been unsuccessful. The accused will most likely be extradited to Saudi Arabia in the coming days.
