Salé: Illegal villas demolished, anger of owners

The president of the rural commune of Shoul under the prefecture of Salé explained the justification for the demolition operations of shops, villas and tourist spaces built in violation of the law.
The operation targeted about ten villas built as tourist spaces and cafes 10 and 20 years ago, reports the daily Al Akhbar. This operation delights the inhabitants of Shoul. They have always been up in arms against the construction, without legal authorization and near schools and colleges, of villas on vast lands and their transformation into private cafes where shisha is served, or into party halls attracting drug and alcohol traffickers who invade Shoul every weekend. The operation is, however, criticized by the owners of the villas. This prompted the president of the rural commune of Shoul to react.
"The campaigns to demolish villas, businesses and other tourist spaces illegally built on the territory of the rural commune of Shoul do not deserve all the fuss that surrounded them," he explains, adding that it is only a matter of the strict application of the law. According to the elected official, it is a question of protecting the basic infrastructures and the forest environment of the commune, while ensuring the continuity of the local tourist dynamic. He is convinced that this campaign will have a positive impact on the commune as part of the reorganization of tourist spaces. This activity will not only create new jobs for the local population, but will also transform Shoul into a choice tourist destination.
