Sahara: Ziyech, Hakimi and Amrabat hail Morocco’s diplomatic victory at the UN
Following the vote on Friday of the United Nations Security Council resolution adopting the Moroccan autonomy plan as the sole basis for a final settlement of the conflict in the Sahara, Moroccan players have hailed this victory of Moroccan diplomacy, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.
"This is a very big day for all Moroccans. The vote in favor of the Moroccan Sahara is a moment of pride and joy for our country. Let’s celebrate this... Long live the King, and Dima Maghrib!", declared Hakim Ziyech, the new striker of Wydad Casablanca, in a video published by his club on X.
Achraf Hakimi, the right-back of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), also expressed his pride after this decision. The Moroccan international shared a photo of King Mohammed VI on Instagram, with the following caption: "Allah, Al Watan, Al Malik" (God, the Homeland, the King).
Nordin Amrabat, Ziyech’s teammate at Wydad, also expressed his joy. "This is a great day, I am happy and proud. I congratulate His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the entire Moroccan people for this support of the Security Council to the Moroccan autonomy plan. Praise be to God... Long live the King and Dima Maghrib!", he rejoiced in a video shared by the Casablanca club.
The Olympique Safi club also celebrated the adoption of this resolution by posting a video in which its players and technical staff sing the national anthem as a sign of pride and unity. Its former coach, Amine Karma, on the other hand, shared a complete map of Morocco on Instagram.
