Rwanda to Open Embassy in Morocco, Strengthening Diplomatic Ties

Rwanda decides to open an embassy in Morocco. This information relayed by a press release from the Rwandan Prime Minister’s Office on July 16, 2019 indicates that the embassy will be headed by the former Mufti of Rwanda and current representative of Kigali in Egypt, Sheikh Saleh Habimana.
Rwanda is getting closer and closer to Morocco. After the opening of the Moroccan Embassy in Kigali, it is Rwanda’s turn to open its diplomatic representation in the Kingdom of Morocco.
At the head of this representation, Kagame appoints an experienced diplomat, a few days after the visit made on July 5, 2019 to Kigali by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita.
This decision is also justified by the intensification of relations between the two countries. They have benefited from a major boost, following the signing of 23 cooperation agreements between the two countries, during the visit of King Mohammed VI to Rwanda in 2016. Even before this meeting, in November 2015, Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda, had taken part in the MEDays Forum, initiated each year by the "Amadeus" think tank, chaired by Brahim Fassi-Fihri.
