Russian Foreign Minister Cancels Middle East Tour, Delaying Arab-Russian Forum in Morocco

The Arab-Russian Cooperation Forum, scheduled for December 15 in Marrakech, will be postponed due to the cancellation of Sergueï Lavrov’s tour, the Russian Foreign Minister, in the Middle East and North Africa.
The tour of the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergueï Lavrov, in the Middle East and North Africa, has been canceled on Friday, December 10 for Russian-Russian considerations, reports Russia Today.
The cancellation of this tour has the consequence of postponing the 6th ministerial session of the Arab-Russian Cooperation Forum, scheduled for December 15 in Marrakech. It was announced that Sergueï Lavrov would participate in this forum and have bilateral talks with Moroccan officials.
Morocco and Russia maintain good relations. In October, Russia spoke out on the Sahara issue and the situation in the Maghreb region. In a statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the country of Vladimir Putin "reaffirmed its unwavering position in favor of a negotiated unblocking of crises and conflicts based on respect for fundamental principles and norms of international law, as well as relevant UN Security Council resolutions".
