Royal Navy Sailors Missing After Training Exercise Off Moroccan Coast

During an exercise at sea on January 20, trainee commando sailors of the Royal Navy were swept away by strong sea currents. The incident took place off Ksar Sghir, said a military source on Friday.
Several sailors were swept away by the strong sea currents during a training exercise at sea, says a military source, specifying that some of them were able to reach the Moroccan coast with the help of the coast guard and the Royal Navy zodiacs. Two others reached the Spanish coast by swimming, in very turbulent waves of a tumultuous sea. These two soldiers were later brought back by air assets of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and they are doing very well.
As for the two other trainee commando sailors, they are still missing. The elements of the FAR and the Royal Gendarmerie, specialized in search and rescue operations, are looking for them, as part of the national Search and Rescue (SAR) system.
