Royal Air Maroc Soars: Passenger Numbers Near Pre-Pandemic Levels, Profits Hit Decade High

Royal Air Maroc achieved good performance in 2023. The Moroccan airline transported more than 7.2 million passengers during the period, thus recovering 96% of its pre-Covid-19 crisis activity.
According to the report on public institutions annexed to the 2025 finance bill, published by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Royal Air Maroc’s air traffic increased by 42% in 2023 compared to 2022. As for the supply, it increased by 32%. The Moroccan airline achieved a record profit, never recorded in the last ten years, with a net margin of 2.2%.
These positive results are explained by a 57% increase in revenues compared to 2022, driven by an increase in global demand for air travel after the gradual lifting of Covid-19 health measures.
Regarding the passenger load factor, it recorded a 5-point increase compared to 2022, reaching 77%, which led to an increase in flights. In total, Royal Air Maroc achieved a turnover of 19.707 billion dirhams in 2023, an increase of 57% compared to 2022, and a net result of 442 million dirhams, up 122%.
Furthermore, the company’s investments increased by 198% compared to 2022, reaching 1.110 billion dirhams. This increase is justified by the purchase of two aircraft worth $100 million. As for the company’s debts, they amount to 7.860 billion dirhams in 2023, a decrease of 12% compared to the previous year.
