Royal Air Maroc Seeks Unpaid Leave from Staff Amid COVID-19 Financial Crisis

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is mired in an unprecedented financial crisis, to the point of negotiating unpaid leave with its staff.
The coronavirus epidemic has caused a sharp drop in RAM’s activity, and undermined its financial situation. According to le360, 20 of the company’s aircraft are grounded, out of a total of 58 aircraft, with a 30% drop in traffic, from March 1 to May 31. Faced with this crisis that is only just beginning, Royal Air Maroc is asking the State for help and is trying to limit its expenses as much as possible.
The company has launched an appeal to its employees, inviting them to take unpaid leave, to work part-time, and to use up the remainder of their leave.
In the service note, the company recalled that unpaid leave is granted for a period of 1 to 6 months, renewable after approval by management and is accompanied by certain benefits, including the maintenance of the benefit of reduced-fare tickets, the maintenance of employer contributions to the CIMR, CNSS and mutual insurance funds.
As for employee contributions, RAM assures that they can be paid in the form of an advance, if the beneficiary so wishes, and refundable, by the interested parties, at the end of the unpaid leave.
