Royal Air Maroc Seeks to Dissolve Pilots’ Association Amid Legal Battle

The public prosecutor’s office ruled in favor of the request filed by Royal Air Maroc (RAM) asking for the dissolution of the Moroccan Association of Airline Pilots (AMPL). This was on October 28, during one of the hearings of this trial which aims to settle the power struggle between RAM and AMPL.
Faced with RAM’s request supported by the prosecution, the lawyers of the AMPL did not hesitate to present their rebuttal, highlighting "the illegitimacy of RAM’s demands," "the protection of the right of association" and "the right to strike" guaranteed by the Constitution, specifies a press release from the association.
They also stressed the haste with which the public prosecutor presented his request. "We were taken aback by the request of the Public Prosecutor which comes before our rebuttal." The lawyers of the association believe "that it would have been necessary a priori to investigate and inquire about a certain number of facts and allegations produced by RAM in its introductory request and at least to consult the defense."
The next hearing will take place this Wednesday, November 4, 2020 and will be marked by pleadings from both parties. The AMPL defense collective says it is ready to go all the way. "We will not fail to be present at this hearing, to present our rebuttal in response to the conclusions of the Public Prosecutor and to plead in turn to defend this cause in which we deeply believe."
