Royal Air Maroc Seeks to Dissolve Pilots' Association Amid Layoff Dispute

Royal Air Maroc is at war with airline pilots. After the dismissal of 65 pilots, the company has just seized the courts in order to dissolve the Moroccan Association of Airline Pilots.

According to Eco Actu, RAM would not forgive the International Federation of Airline Pilots Associations (IFALPA), of which the AMPL is a member, its letter where it denounced these layoffs which are only economic in name. Worse, the company would have received no less than 30 letters from the various associations affiliated with the IFALPA. "It is explained in these letters that it is bad faith on the part of the company’s management," reports the site, citing an anonymous pilot.

The company, furious, filed a petition for nullity and dissolution of the AMPL with the court of first instance on September 9; the first hearing will be held in mid-October.

Furthermore, the Moroccan company has gone so far as to demand the seizure of the Association’s accounts for the account of the State. An approach that calls into question all the agreements signed with the AMPL for more than 40 years. And yet, barely a year ago, the two parties signed an agreement with the condition of 3 years of social peace.

"6 months ago, Royal Air Maroc employed 66 foreign pilots. Today, it is getting rid of Moroccan pilots and in 3 to 4 months with the recovery it will recruit foreign labor to replace the Moroccans," the pilot revolts.
