Royal Air Maroc Expands Fleet with Two Boeing 787-9s, Plans New Routes to Los Angeles and Beijing

As part of its ambitious development plan, Royal Air Maroc has just acquired two new Boeing 787-9 aircraft, bringing the total number of this type of aircraft in its fleet to seven. These latest-generation long-haul aircraft will allow the Moroccan national airline to open new routes and strengthen its presence on the international market.
One of these new aircraft will operate the first direct Casablanca to Los Angeles route. The other will serve the Casablanca-Beijing route, thus strengthening the ties between Morocco and China.
These acquisitions are part of a call for tenders launched by RAM on April 15. The company wishes to quadruple its fleet by 2030 to reach 200 aircraft, an objective that meets the growing demand for travel and Morocco’s tourism ambitions.
"This call for tenders aims to allow the largest Moroccan airline in Africa to increase the size of its fleet by four times over the next ten years, as the country prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal," said Abdelhamid Addou, CEO of Royal Air Maroc.
With a current fleet of 52 aircraft, Royal Air Maroc serves around fifty airports in Africa. The development of the fleet should allow Morocco to achieve its tourism objectives: 17.5 million visitors in 2026 and 26 million in 2030.
