Royal Air Maroc Ordered to Pay Damages for Overbooking Incident

The Court of First Instance in Oujda has condemned the airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM) for denied boarding due to "overbooking".
The events took place in July 2022. While he had booked online two tickets for a flight from Casablanca to Oujda, a passenger accompanied by his daughter was prevented from boarding due to overbooking, reports Hespress. The two passengers were then transferred to an alternative flight arriving in Oujda after midnight. A transfer that was prejudicial to them: his daughter had to take admission exams for higher education institutes. The passenger took the case to the Court of First Instance in Oujda.
According to the plaintiff’s lawyer, the national airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM) practiced "denied boarding", and did not respect its obligation to assist the affected passengers, nor reimburse part of the ticket amount within a week of the flight date, as required by law.
