Royal Air Maroc Ground Staff Rejects Proposed Salary Cuts Amid Crisis Talks

The ground staff of Royal Air Maroc (RAM) also opposes the salary reduction proposed by the company. The trade union office of the National Federation of Air Transport recalls that no agreement has so far been given for a deduction of salaries as one of the solutions to get out of the crisis.

In a message addressed to the ground staff of RAM, the trade union office of the National Federation of Air Transport, affiliated to the Moroccan Union of Labor (UMT), supports that "the preservation of jobs and the interests of the company first of all passes through the optimization and the establishment of a new approach as to the management of operating expenses, reports Le360. This would generate substantial savings, it specifies.

However, the ground staff union recalls that it remains open to certain concessions, provided that all the avenues for reducing costs are exhausted in a clear, transparent and effective manner, but also after having gone through the final action plan developed by the management.

Furthermore, the trade union office reassures the staff that any decision, in common agreement with the management, would be subject to the prior approval of all the employees. It has also invited them not to rely on rumors devoid of any foundation.

It should be noted that this message from the trade union office comes following a meeting organized at the beginning of the week with the management of the Moroccan airline company, during which "a convergence of views" could be reached on the continuation of efforts for the sustainability of the company and the safeguarding of jobs.
