Royal Air Maroc Faces Scrutiny Over Surge in Lost Luggage at Casablanca Airport

The explosion in the number of lost bags and suitcases of many travelers arriving, particularly on Royal Air Maroc (RAM) flights at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, is worrying Hassan Oumribte, a deputy of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS).

Hassan Oumribte, a deputy of the Party of Progress and Socialism, is questioning the Minister of Transport and Equipment on the loss of baggage and suitcases at the kingdom’s airports. While the traveler usually recovers his luggage as soon as he arrives, some wait for long hours, which sometimes turn into several days, or are surprised to learn of their loss, specifies Hassan Oumribte, in his question. Faced with this situation, "the trip becomes a painful ordeal in search of luggage, and a suffering instead of a moment of relaxation and pleasure to find loved ones and friends, even becoming a curse for travelers who wish to spend their holidays away from the arrival airport," he deplored.

This singular phenomenon gives a negative image of the services provided by our airports and their organizational capacities, and contributes to weakening the tourist attractiveness, by affecting their competitive capacities, stressed the elected representative, insisting on the fact that the strengthening of the links between Moroccan citizens residing abroad and their country of origin, the success of sports competitions and international events to come, as well as the achievement of the objectives of major tourism projects depend on the improvement of air transport services in our airports, particularly with regard to the reception and luggage recovery service.

Based on these observations, Oumribte asks the Minister of Transport to explain the reasons for the delays and loss of travelers’ luggage at our airports. He also calls for the implementation of measures and actions to improve air transport services in the kingdom.
